Sustainability Specialist (parental leave cover)
Sustainability Specialist (parental leave cover)
We’re looking for a Sustainability Specialist who’s passionate about integrating sustainability across the value chain—who can turn strategy into concrete actions and measurable results. If you enjoy combining analytical skills with hands-on collaboration across teams and stakeholders, this will be your cup of tea. Our app has grown steadily over the past ten years, and it’s our goal to continue to grow sustainably. This role would help steer us on that journey.(This is a 12-month parental leave cover, ideally beginning January 2026 to ensure ample time for handover.)
About the role
As a Sustainability Specialist, you’ll drive Once Upon’s day-to-day operational sustainability work and help advance our strategic ambitions. You’ll lead our B Corp re-certification, manage annual CO₂ accounting, and coordinate reduction initiatives with internal teams and our printing partners. You’ll also explore circular opportunities, deepen social sustainability in the supply chain, and ensure that sustainability is embedded in our communication and ways of working. You will be part of the Value Chain & Sustainability area management team, work closely with our Supply Chain, Customer Care, Marketing, Data & Insight and Finance teams, and will report to the Chief Value Chain & Sustainability Officer.
What you’ll do
• Lead B Corp efforts: stay active in the B Corp community and project-manage our re-certification process.
• Own CO₂ accounting: run yearly footprint calculations alongside our consultancy firm (GHG Protocol), track progress vs. the 2022 baseline, and report transparently.
• Drive reductions: implement our net-zero strategy across the value chain, follow up on the OU Reduction Plan and printers’ Action Plans to reach a 35% per MSEK CO₂ reduction by the end of 2026.
• Strengthen social sustainability: assess working conditions at our printing partners and propose practical improvements.
• Material choices: continuously evaluate more sustainable materials across all printers and product lines.
• Market and trend scanning: analyze competitor activity and broader sustainability developments across industries.
• FSC responsibility: act as the FSC point of contact.
• Communication enablement: ensure sustainability claims and narratives in internal and external communication are accurate and consistent.
• Collaborate across teams: work closely with Supply Chain, Customer Care, Marketing (incl. Brand/Communications), Data & Insight, and Finance to deliver outcomes.
Your background
You have hands-on experience with corporate sustainability and know how to turn frameworks and goals into actionable change.
We believe you have:
• 3–5 years of experience in sustainability work, preferably within consumer products, manufacturing or supply chains.
• Experience with B Corp assessments and improvements, and with GHG accounting (Scopes 1–3).
• Proven ability to coordinate initiatives with suppliers/partners and drive measurable reductions.
• Experience working with social sustainability related initiatives and projects.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; comfortable translating data into decisions.
• Fluency in English; Swedish is a strong plus.
Who you are
You combine structure with empathy and have a penchant for action. You’re curious, collaborative and comfortable moving between strategic thinking and operational detail. You build trust with colleagues and partners, communicate clearly, and enjoy turning complex sustainability topics into concrete next steps. Most of all, you care about impact, and focus on making choices that are better for people, our product and the planet.
